Rachel Benavidez

Rachel Benavidez has experienced communications from both sides of the field, as a writer and editor for newspapers and magazines and a public relations and marketing executive whose work is focused on uplifting communities through storytelling and advocacy.

Her work has included developing messaging and outreach strategies, internal and external communications, thought leadership, branding and marketing campaigns, and establishing social responsibility programs that helped amplify that agency’s voice and reach and made them key partners in local relief efforts at the height of the Covid pandemic.

Her career includes fifteen years leading newsrooms for English and Spanish publications and award-winning work in journalism, marketing, public relations, and digital and social media.

A Rio Grande Valley native, Rachel has spent her life and career in South and Central Texas, telling the stories of the Latino communities she serves. Outside her professional career, she is seated on several boards focused on advancing business and economic development interests, public education and STEM curriculum for girls, and elevating those in the public relations industry.

Her work to empower communities in South Texas was presented for discussion at the Barbara Jordan National Forum on Public Policy, and her contributions to the journalism and communications fields have been recognized with numerous local, state, and national awards.
